Vitec Flamingo 4.12.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges via unauthenticated input in graph generation endpoints.

This critical unauthenticated RCE in Vitec Flamingo 4.12.2 exploits a lack of input sanitization in the admin/ajax/gen_graphs.php endpoint, enabling attackers to run shell commands with root privileges due to passwordless sudo access. DIB organizations must immediately patch or replace this vendor's hardware/software to avoid catastrophic compromise of sensitive systems.

Shame score — An unauthenticated RCE with root privileges in a critical vendor product represents a severe, avoidable security failure that exposes DIB systems to immediate exploitation.

Description

Vitec Flamingo 4.12.2 contains an unauthenticated OS command injection vulnerability in the admin/ajax/gen_graphs.php endpoint that allows remote unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary commands by supplying shell metacharacters in the start, end, key, or format HTTP GET parameters. Attackers can exploit the lack of input sanitization in the graph generation script, which passes user-supplied values directly to shell commands via passthru(), to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges due to the web server context having passwordless sudo access.
